Computer has only gone to sleep on its own twice in the past week
My computer is set to sleep after three hours, meaning that it generally sleeps in the early morning until I log in in the morning (I restart it before bed each night), then sleeps again mid morning until I get home from work.
There are some exceptions, but few, and the computer will sometimes wake itself after several hours of sleep, but 80% of the time, this is the pattern it would follow.
However, since Thursday 3/28, the computer has only slept twice of its own accord, despite my usage pattern following previous conventions.
The only device "allowed" to wake the computer was the network adapter (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller), and I turned that capability off and the problem persists.
But the issue really isn't the computer waking up; it's that it never falls to sleep.
Last night I changed the sleep setting from three hours to one minute, sat back, and at one minute exactly the display went off. Waited two more minutes and the fans and case lights continued to run. No sleep event was logged.
Tried putting the computer to sleep by the start menu and this time it worked - went right to sleep, and an event was logged.
But the normal power management shutting the computer off has stopped working since March 28.
Three have been no substantive program updates to my computer before or during that time, and the only Windows updates were definition updates to Windows Defender on 3/26, 3/29, and 4/2.
My computer seems to be fine, but the sudden and unexplained change in sleep behavior bothers me.
The only times it has gone to sleep because of being idle were 3/31 in the overnight and afternoon, for about two hours, until I woke it.
The only events logged, usually, when I am not on the computer, are 7036 events saying "the XXX service has entered the stopped [or running] state."
