I do not see why you can't. Acronis backup will backup what ever you ask it to do. I usually do a FULL BACKUP, then chose to reinstall what I chose.
    Games included.

Would it work to just copy the profile folder for the game?

Every game is different. You will have to locate where the save games are for each game. Check the publishers website or forum for more information. This is a pretty common thing that people need to do.

I've been playing Wolfenstein and had to search the web to find where my save games were at as well.

Well, I'm not so much worried about the single player save files since I already have them all beat but the online ones like cod 4 and 5, gta 4, left 4 dead, TF2, i'd like to be able to save my profile for each with my online rank.

All of your online stuff is saved online. You don't need to do anything. When you logon to the game with your username and password , all of your stuff should be there.

Did you have any luck in getting your online profile back?

There is a profile backup tool for COD WAW. I personally did back my profile up, but something in between the Win XP to Windows 7 transition may have monkeyed up the backup. There is a choice to bring the data back as XP or Vista. Since Vista is the most up to date I chose this option. It placed the backup folder exactly where the read me said it would. I physically moved this data to the backup location I believe it should be under Users/personal account/App data/local/Activision/CODWAW/. This does not bring back my previous rank which took a long time to achieve. Just for grins I jumped into a game and my character went in at the 1st rank.

I will be looking for more information; but I wanted to check in here 1st.

11-8-09: I found a website that someone backed up their files to Windows 7 and they gave the step by step instructions. It was exactly as I described above. As a longshot I knew I found a more recent backup on my external drive but it wasn't compiled the same way that the backup tool did it. I dragged the Player and Server Cache file to the above path (replacing the previous files) and surprise; it worked. Perhaps this worked where the other didn't because it was a more recent backup.
