Before you trash the recovery partition, try this:
Power on the computer and as soon as you see the Dell splash screen, press ctrl and f11 at the same time. This should make your computer load the recovery partition. Then, you can factory reset your computer.

The control F11 thing doesn't work. It just prompts me to start windows but thank you anyway.
As far as installing the drivers for BIOS, I can't do it because I have uncovered yet another problem with my son's laptop - the drivers won't install unless you have 10% battery life and the battery will not charge. The computer will only work if I have it plugged in. Otherwise, it shuts down. It says plugged but not charging. I went into BIOS and it doesn't even recognize the adapter. When I switch to my daughter's adapter, it is recognized in BIOS but the wattage is too low (90W when it needs 130W). While it will power up, it will not charge with this cord either. So, I cannot install the drivers from the laptop itself. Can I do it from another computer and then copy it somehow to the laptop?
Problem 2: I downloaded your iso file and copied it and tried to boot from that disk and it still will not. Please help.....

Hi rshalhoub

For the Bios not being able to update . Do this please

Open up an Elevated Command Prompt. Click on type CMD inside Search programs and files . Right click on CMD under Programs (1) choose Run as administrator . Click on Yes button inside the UAC window. One command prompt opens up it should open up to this path C:\Windows\System32>_

Make sure the BIOS file is on the desktop and do this command inside the command prompt

CD desktop

Press <ENTER>

{BIOSFILE}.exe /forceit

Press <ENTER>

Iso issue . What program are you using to burn the iso? What error message are you getting.

When you downloaded the BIOS file. It downloaded to C:\Users\Username\Downloads folder . All you have to do is copy the file from that folder and paste it to C:\Users\UserName\Desktop

As far as the iso goes, I just click on the file on my hard drive and click burn in windows explorer. It formats the disk and burns it automatically. Then I put the disk in the disk drive of the laptop and booted it. I changed the BIOS so that it should boot from the disc and it doesn't. That is the problem.

ok. I got to the desktop and ran the file but it gives me the same error - that it cannot make changes unless the computer has 10% battery and it won't charge.
