    I have also read many people weren't satisfied with the performance over a regular HDD, especially with the extra cost.

    No, that was not the problem. The complaint was mainly about the little increase of performance relative to the price increase over a comparable HDD. I don't have those links any more, but if memory serves me well, it was mainly thumbs down.
