Why is Windows 7 So Slow...

Why is that here lately has my monster desktop with Windows 7 has gotten slow over the past Month or so. I have 8GB of RAM and a TBite of HD memory and connected to a high speed modem. I can get 48 or 50mps Download speed however my Upload speed has dropped from the 4.0 to 4.4 but now it is down to only about 1.92mps. What would cause this?

I see one out of 2 possibilities:

    1. This is a problem with your ISP somewhere
    2. Windows Update may have installed a new driver for your ethernet adapter and it's not as good as the previous one

So this is independent of the rest of your computer. The only thing affected here is your upload speed, so it's either the driver (which is what's operating the ethernet controller), or it's the ISP. If it's the ISP, then it could be anything such as some equipment of theirs outside may have a problem.

I do have one question though: where are you seeing an upload speed? In other words, what are you using that is showing you this upload speed?

you can do couple of things to make your window faster. First you should clean your registry that is necessary part . Always use only one antivirus at the same time.Remove temporary Internet files from your system. uninstall these programs which are not necessary.
    - Click Start, click "Control Panel" and then go to "Internet Options".On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files. In the Delete Files dialog box, select the "Delete all offline content" check box and then click OK. And then click on OK
    - Open your Start menu.Click Run. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" . In the "system configuration utility",click on "service" tab. Uncheck all programs that your are not using.Click on "OK"

Hopefully your system will give better performance.....

Windows never improves over time, that would be a dream, indeed.

Visit the tutorial section here on sevenforums for a ton of ideas/procedures to improve the Windows experience.

OP, ONLY your internet is slower than before?
Then that requires an Internet Service Provider phone call, if you are on a cable modem, could be spike in usage in your neighborhood, but you reported good downloads, and upload wise, we generally don't use all that much in normal surfing or gaming.

Run any tweaking tools on that PC that had you adjust any settings?
Some recommend some browser settings that can be bad for speed.

Reset your router/cable modem, if applicable by removing power to them for 10 secs and then restarting them and PC?
