    Systweak RegCleanerPro Scam

In an attempt to undo the evil caused by a virus called sweetIM aka start.sweetpacks.com, I was tainted further by the next turd to float my way down the internet sewer called systweak. These filth have a program called "RegCleaner Pro" I mistakenly allowed them to infest me with. We had an interesting on-line back-and-forth which I began by complaining about two other programs I allowed to do a lengthy scan to "discover" malware, which they then wanted $30 to "fix". The result was the longest scan yet, at the culmination of which they asked for $249.00 to "fix".
These no good (expletives deleted) claimed to be approved by Microsoft. A quick check on Google confirmed this company to be the complete criminal entity they proved themselves to be. Their program is itself a virus. I am saving everything I can, and reloading Windows, which their "technician" informed me would not solve my problem. It won't. Trusting anything from the internet is my problem.

    Hi Larry,

Backup your data, then format and clean install as you propose - that will at least give you a clean slate to start with.

Give us a shout if you need any more advise or opinion on software that you are thinking of downloading.

A general rule of thumb here is that Windows 7 does not require any "tweaking" software....as you have seen, they do more harm than good.

    Regards,
    Golden

I would also recommend after your clean install run many complete scans with different programs on all your backups to make sure they are clean of infection before moving them to your new install.

If you would like you could create a new thread in System Security and you will have the viruses removed from your PC in a timely manner . Just state in the post what you posted here .
