Can I delete files from regedit

    Hi all,
after using Avast for my AV for some time I reckon it's time for a change so I installed MSSE and uninstalled Avast through Revo uninstaller. I always check to see what's left in the dark corners of my registry and found some references to Avast. In HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT "Avast WrcBar64" and "Avast WrcBar64.1" and in HKEY_CURRENT_USER a folder named "Avast Software". Can I delete these? I know they probably do no harm but it's the old story of leaving all the leftovers and as sure as little googy eggs are laid by chooks, the computer will inevitably get s.l..o...w....e.......r! Cheers!

Just leave the registry alone. Please let me know if you ever find a registry entry (or group of entries) that can slow a computer down by an amount that a human can perceive.

OK thanks, I bow to your knowledge and will keep my sticky little fingers away from the reg.

I remember reading about an experiment done years ago where the registry was deliberately bloated to an extent that was far beyond what would ever occur in the real world. The impact on performance was minimal.
