    Explorer.exe 50%+ CPU usage

    Hi,

Since 2-3 days, explorer.exe goes often crazy and use 50%+ of my CPU. I notice it instantly because it makes my mouse lag (very slow / unresponsive / etc) and slow down the whole computer.

Killing the process solve the problem. But after 10sec-10min it comes back.

I tried to search solution online but couldn't solve it myself...

Even tried to launch Process Monitor and try to understand what's going on without success...

Does anyone have an idea ?

    Thanks.

    Pataya

Edit: I already did the 'SFC /SCANNOW' command but nothing
Edit²: The Process Explorer shows me this when it happens : https://i.imgur.com/KhzJfgu.jpg

You should scan with a reliable antivirus &/or antimalware pronto. It's the first logical step. Then try to use Hijackthis and post results for experts to analyze.

    I did, didn't find anything.
But I think I fixed it.

I only tried to see what was happening with Process Explorer after my post (because Process Monitor didn't help me) and I searched online "uiautomationcore.dll explorer.exe cpu" and found this and tried to uninstall Clover which is the same kind of app. And now everything seems fine.

I'll update this post in 1-2 days, but I think that's fixed.

After a quick e-mail to the developer, this was indeed a bug with Clover. Bug has been fixed & one update will be released tomorrow.

Thank you dorian for your guidance.

I am glad you fixed your problem :)
You can always tick off "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed" in the advanced settings of Chrome, many apps take up unnecessary memory.
