Great System High Disk Usage fresh install

the laotop specs are as follows on windows 7 home premium
    Processor:
    Intel Core 3rd Generation i7 3630QM 2.4GHz (3.4GHz w/Turbo Boost)
    OS:
Windows 8 Home Premium x64 & Reinstall Disc
    Display:
17.3 Inch Full High Definition (900p) LED Display with Anti-Glare
    Video:
    2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 650M DDR5
    Memory:
    8GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz (2 DIMMs)
    Hard Drive(s):
1 TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive +500gb 5400 rpm second sata hdd
i constantly hit 100% disk usage from initiating small things opening chrome spikes the usage to 100% in an instant. Ran installer for borderlands 2 constant 100% disk usage. Normally i used to be able to run 2-3 installers like dead space 3 + 2 other games simultaneously and still only hit about 75% disk usage. The software is the same as i always install so nothing changed there all drivers are up to date. Now any small processes spike my Disk usage to 100% causing even web surfing to lag. I put in a second HDD without formatting it or doing anything to it besides just putting it in. COuld this be the cause of all my troubles?

Does the problem cease if you unplug the other HD? If so wipe it with Diskpart Clean Command.

You might need to wipe the OS HD before doing another perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Type Resource Manager in Start search box, click on HD to monitor usage patterns.

Actually i did that it did not help by much. I figured out the issue was malwayre bytes and super anti-spyware with bit defender and avast any combination results in rediculously high usage as though each is constantly scanning what ever process you are attempting to run

You don't want to run two AV's, and in fact I'd run Microsoft Security Essentials by itself to avoid these kinds of problems.

Keep MB and SAS for on-demand scanning only, making sure not to install the trial versions, only the free version - or if it asks you decline the trial. Then check in msconfig>Startup and >Services (after hiding MS Services) that only MSE is enabled. This should also avoid most of these problems in the future.
