Blue screen on start up with "unexpected shut down" message

A few months ago I built a new computer and did a fresh new install of Windows. Shortly after that it began to start up abnormally every other day for no reason. I have no idea what is causing it. Every time I shut down the computer, I use the shutdown option in the start menu. I see it shutdown normally but the way it starts up occasionally seems to suggest otherwise.

What happens, is after starting up a blue screen appears briefly and then goes to the black screen where it says windows has shut down unexpectedly. On the black screen you can also choose whether to do a normal startup or go to repair mode. If you pick repair mode it just loads for about 10 minutes and says the problem can't repaired. You can also choose system restore but I never do that. So usually I just choose to start normally and then it starts up like normal with no issues.

That might not sound so bad, but it's making me worry about what's wrong with my PC. Constantly starting up like this can't be safe for it. What's worse is that today instead of starting up normally after choosing the normal startup option, it went back to the blue screen and kept doing it every time after I chose the normal startup option. It seemed like an infinite loop.

What's causing this problem?

Please tell us what that BLUE SCREEN says....

Your 2nd paragraph 2nd line, you meant unexpectedly, right? :)

Do this from a START | <search box>
SFC /scannow
That will verify your windows files install.

You have virus scanned the system? Rec: Malwarebyte's free scanner if you haven't.
Get it here:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - CNET Download.com

Get all the info from that BLUE SCREEN, and report back, we needz it! :geek:
