    Help with System Restore question

Hello guys. I'm a long time reader, first time asker. I want to know if it was possible to set system restore to automatically restore my Windows 7 to a certain period? For ex. I would like for my Win7 to automatically restore itself to a restore point every night. Is that possible? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Windows does not provide that functionality.
System Restore was designed as a simple way to recover from a system problem. Try to use it for any other purpose and you are asking for trouble. I can't see how that could work.

Why do you want to do this?
If we knew that we might be able to suggest a workable solution.

You need to be aware that "System Restore" should really be renamed "Operating System Restore" -- as that is what it really does. It's not a "time machine" kind of function that resets the total state of the machine back to the restore date you choose. It basically goes into a Windows system directory, finds old versions of system files, and replaces the current files with those old versions.

If what you really want to do is reset your entire setup to a previous point in time, the only way to do this is to do an image backup (using Win7 or some third party tool like Macrium Reflect or Acronis) to an external drive and then later, restore the setup from that backup.
