Windows excessive loading time on startup

Hi there, I'm taking a look at a family members laptop as they're having a problem with it. Before it hits the login screen, it takes about 15 minutes to get to it. After I've typed in the password, another 25-30 minutes will go by until I hit the desktop. Everything after this runs fine, what can I do to solve this? Thanks

    Nobrad welcome to SevenForums

Uncheck everything except for the Antivirus inside the Startup tab inside System Configuration

Click on the button type msconfig inside Search programs and files box and press <ENTER> once you see msconfig under Programs (1) . On the User Access Control window click the Yes button . Once you're inside the System Configuration window click on the Startup tab and uncheck everything except for your Anti-virus . Click Apply and OK buttons . Click on Exit without restart . Restart the PC manually .

Nooooo I just had to restart the laptop due to malware removal! Will try this after it *eventually* turns back on.... I don't understand how that would majorly effect the loadup time though? Thanks for all help
