    Group Policy "Preferences" folder missing

    Hi,

I hope I'm in the right sub-forum. (Otw. please move, thank you).

There are a few things that I need to do. Tutorials on the web always tell me to open gpedit.msc and then expand the "Preferences" folder under user configuration. However, there is no such folder. Can anyone help me?
    I'm on a 64 bit Win 7 Professional.

    Regards

Can you give link(s) to the tutorials ?
Here is an SF tutorial for the Group Policy Editor.
The screen prints in this tutorial don't show a Preferences folder.

Hello DoubleYou, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yes, please do post links to these tutorials. I do not recall seeing any tutorial having those steps since there is no "Preferences" main folder in the Local Group Policy Editor.

Perhaps you are referring to one of the many subfolders for a specific policy setting instead??

Hello DrViktor and welcome to Seven Forums.

It seems to me, the article you linked is for a "system administrator in a Corporate environment".
Maybe there is a difference for a Home User versus a Corporate administrator ???

I see the "Preferences" tab in your linked article screen prints, and I don't have that tab in my home user ...
The Windows Title is also different than what I see ...

The Windows Title in your article is "Group Policy Management Editor".
The Windows Title in the SF tutorial (and for me) is "Local Group Policy Editor".
