Random freeze: Windows Special Logon (Event viwer code)

Any ideas what is likely causing this issue? It lasts about 15 seconds and then everything is fine. I may be in the middle of something (browsing) or email. Even if email is not working in the background or open that makes no difference.

I'd rather not do a repair or clean install if possible. But this issue randomly surfaces every day. I've done the usual troubleshooting including malware scans. No hardware issues present. Eventviewer log seems consistent: Event 4672 and 4624-

quite normal events Lots of "Special Logon" events for computer account?

What hapens exactly? Screen freezes... no screen updates at all? Much harddisk activity then?

Also happens if email program isn't running? Also happens if browser isn't running?

Easy to test... I mean can you force the problem?

That's what I was thinking as well with the security log in events.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recreate the freeze.

What I mean by freeze is that the system literally completely freezes. Keyboard is completely unresponsive, mouse is unresponsive. HD light sometimes is on sometimes it is not.

The freeze is completely random. The only constant is this happens when the system is idling. Meaning, I am doing nothing but just reading what is on my screen.
