several startup errors on Belkin, gadgets, speedfan, pando & others
This all began last week when I started having an issue with Paint Shop Pro. I noticed that whenever I saved an image, the program would freeze (or hang) for about 5 - 10 seconds. During this time, I couldn't even click on a browser, everything froze for several seconds. Then I heard somewhere that you can do a reinstall to make it work faster. It did work better for a little while but now it's doing the same thing again.
Then after reinstalling PSP, I began to get several error messages when I start or log on to the computer. When I put in my password, it takes more time than usual before I see the desktop. Then when I see my desktop, I get several errors. I get an error on my Belkin router, another .nfo error on gadgets, errors for speedfan (this program monitors temperature) & another error on Pando. A total of about 8 error messages every time I log on or start the computer.
I get all of these messages at about the same time but here's some info about the messages:
The gadgets error says:
"System Information is unable to open this .nfo file. The file might be corrupt or incompatible with this version of System Information."
(But it's worked fine all of the time before this & I haven't changed any gadget settings.
Another error I'm getting is for my Belkin router. That message says:
"The program can't start because QtXml4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
But I've checked & I do have that file in the Belkin folder. I've reinstalled the program but still keep getting this message. I have a connection & haven't noticed any other performance issues.
I'm also getting messages on speedfan (which monitors temperature). There are several files called speedfansens.cfg, speedfanparams.cfg & speedfanevents.cfg Whenever I log on, I get errors on all of those files. I've tried deleting all of those files from the startup folder & I've also unchecked those files in startup, using msconfig. But when I start or log on again, those files are back in the startup folder again!! Also, while trying to resolve this issue, I was looking at the files in the startup folder. I went to properties & compatibility & noticed it was set for XP. I changed that to windows 7 but I didn't know what kind of visual settings to chose so I set it to 256 colors. But when I logged on again, I realized 256 was the wrong option because my screen looks too weird. Then I went back to properties & chose 640 x 480 resolution. Even after changing these options, my screen still looks the same every time I log on! Then I have to go to control panel & change the settings.
There is also a debug.dll (Pando) that's in my startup folder & now that file also repopulates itself in my startup folder.
I have deleted the unwanted files from startup many times & have also unchecked those files in msconfig but the next time I log on, they're back again!!
Just now I went to event log & also found the following startup messages:
"Session "Homegroup Log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035"
"Faulting application name: BelkinSetup.exe, version: 18.104.22.16860, time stamp: 0x4de00d76
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Exception code: 0x80000001"
"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
"The StarWind AE Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
"The driver \Driver\aku42lva failed to load for the device PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3570&SUBSYS_2677D355&REV_01\4&5d18f2df&0."
Ultimately what happens when I log on or start the computer, as I begin to see my desktop, I get all of these errors & my screen goes back to 256 colors. Then I have to go to control panel to change my screen settings before I can see what I'm doing!!
I've done several computer scans using my installed ESET & I also used Pando Cloud (after the errors started occurring). I've also used Spybot but haven't found any major problems. Spybot found a few tracking files but still nothing major.
I have a Dell Inspiron One 19 & use windows 7 64 bit
Any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks!
