    Windows Explorer Very Slow Randomly

My computer is self built and I have put together several computers over the years successfully, but this issue is a first for me. This is also my first experience with a SSD hard drive if that means anything.

    The specs are:
    Intel i5 processor
    SSD HD 120GB
    4GB Ram
    Windows 7 Professional Edition
    Avast anti-virus

After say an hour of regular use (Excel, Word, and Chrome browsing), anything associated with Windows explorer comes to a crawl. All the programs running work fine, but if I for example click on the start menu or try to switch between open windows it struggles.

I haven't found any malware or viruses. My wife is the main user and doesn't really do much more than browsing and office product work.

I thought it was maybe something to do with Aero, so I disabled it, but the problem still shows up randomly. Restarting solves the problem for a bit, but then it comes back. I am really stuck with this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can provide any information you may think is relevant.

    Thanks,
    -J

    Hi yacobito,

    Welcome to Seven forums.

Kindly clean boot the system using the link below:

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

Also run SFC to resolve any errors to resolve this issue:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please check and let us know the results of the same.
