    How long should checkdisk run?

Checkdisk has been running for about 20 hours now. It's been stuck on "Correcting index in $I30 for file 85496." Is this normal? Should i try something else? Or should I just be patient?

I have had to run checkdisk a few times recently and the longest it took was max of a half an hour. May I ask did you select the box that says to "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"? I also found a thread that you might find useful about checkdisk freezing.

jcupach, that is to long. Shut down and try again. If it continues I would run a hard drive diagnostic, if that is good try a system restore prior to the time of the problem you have. then a repair install if not resolved still.

More info on your issue, and filling in your specs will help us help you.
