Software for reading CPU/GPU temperatures
Hi all, long-time lurker first time poster. I've been having troubles running games the past couple days and would like to check my hardware temperatures - most threads regarding this seem to be at least a couple years old, and all the recommended programs like SpeedFan and Core Temp have recently been bombarded by reviews claiming they're full of spyware. Speccy seems relatively clean, but I was just wondering if anybody more informed might be able to share their updated insight... it'd be greatly appreciated!
The specifics of my issue... not exactly related:
I may return back to this topic if I discover problems, and it doesn't merit creating a new one... my problem is that some few minutes into gameplay the game will hang, then the screen will go black and audio distortion kicks in for a couple seconds... then if the game doesn't crash completely, it'll return at around 10-15 FPS (according to in-game counters and FRAPs), and in some cases the sensitivity will shoot through the roof. It all happened around the latest Defiance patch. I was running the game at a downsampled resolution of around 2300 x 1400 (1920 x 1200 native) @ 60.00Hz refresh, with graphics set to "high" and all others turned "on" (so essentially fully maxed... not the most extensive graphics settings, I know) for three days prior with no troubles, then suddenly it hit. Now I have to run at my native resolution @ 59.00Hz with everything turned "low"/"off" to run it without crashing... and even then it still isn't guaranteed. It happens during The Secret World (DX9), Saints Row the 3rd (DX10/11), and I can't even run Blacklight: Retribution (DX9) through the splash screens before it crashes.
