    WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service?

    hi

What does WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service do exactly?
BTW I have WIN7 Prof. 64-bin and I'm not using a proxy server on my desktop PC at home.

I did a Google search of your exact question: What does WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service do

The first returned link gives a good explanation: WinHTTP AutoProxy Support (Windows)

Thx a lot, this service is set on "manually", but each time it will be started automatically.

BTW what happens, if I disable this service?

I don't know. Try it and post back with the results???

Why do you want to do anything with it?

I've disabled this service and works without any problems.
I try to disable some needless services, because my WIN 7 needs 2GB RAM after restart.

Unused ram is wasted ram :) Mine is about 1.5GB on a clean boot, out of 4GB.
