Unknown Application Chewing up CPU -- srsx.exe

Hello all,

So after doing a full virus scan yesterday and removing a bunch of threats from my computer, I suddenly noticed that my PC was being impossibly slow. I opened up task manager and saw that some random program titled "srsx.exe" was chewing up 97% of my CPU's processing power. I ended the process, but about 2 minutes later it automatically popped up again and resumed chewing up all of my CPU.

I ended the process again, opened the file location, and deleted the folder, which was in my AppData/Local folder inside of a folder simply entitled "Crypto". I have absolutely no idea what it was or who installed or how it was installed, so I deleted the entire folder and emptied it from my recycle bin.

Now, every 2-3 minutes, my computer keeps on popping up the following error message, despite the fact that I no longer have that program even on my hard drive anymore. I don't know how to stop it or get rid of it and it's driving me absolutely crazy. Every time it pops up, whatever I'm doing minimizes to desktop so I can read this stupid error message. This can get particularly frustrating while playing games, which is largely what I do on this computer.

If I could get any help or knowledge for this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

having very similar issue. I can end the task, however it starts itself back up. Scanned it with Kaspersky and Norton 360 and it shows nothing. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

That's what I ran. I have 0 infected files or anything.

I am having the same issue. SRSX.EXE is using up all the CPU. I have scanned using Symantec Endpoint Protection and have Unhackme running, neither find any issues. I have to use task manager to end the SRSX.EXE process, then delete the directory and it's files \User\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto. In that directory are SRSX.EXE and MPIR.DLL. Once you delete SRSX.EXE, there will be several pop-up errors about MPRI.DLL. The pop-ups appear each time the Crypto directory and it's contents are recreated. I have used Autoruns to try to figure out what is creating this directory and recreating these files and loading SRSX.EXE, but so far no luck. I have done several internet searches and do not find much about either file. Any help available is greatly appreciated!
