    Hard Disk transfer speed getting down

    Hi all,
    When I bought new notebook, the notebook could copy/move 10-15 GB file in 10 seconds... The transfer rate perhaps 110 mbps
    But now I am move/copy the same file 1 partition to another it takes long time & the transfer rate is 8-12 mbps
    Why it is occurring....
    & How can I fix the problem

    Thanx

    Try a defrag. Your HDD may be fragmented.

    Defrag is a bogus answer - it has nothing to do with transfer rate (MAYBE if the disk is 99% full)
    I just installed a new 2T drive, NOTHING ON IT, on a brand NEW, NO garbage system, no garbage drive, and transfer from C to D is 2.65 meg - I might as well email it from one to the other.
    How do you get realistin HD to HD transfer rates in Win 7?
    Dell 990, Intel Core I5 quad core, 2500
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    8 gig ram
    C = 500G Seagate drive (90% free space)
    D = 2T Western digital drive (100% free space, formatted with GPT)

    Hi jakamon,

    Data transfer either between internal drives or external depends on various sources. What are the RPMs of the harddrive also how many programs running on the system. How many resources being utilized on the system.

    2.65Mb is very less speed as compared to the new SATA drives. You should check if it is not a fault with one of the harddrive on the system.

    Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
