    "Slow performance" Windows interruptions

So for as long as I can remember I've been harassed by this pop-up/annoyance. It has followed me from my last machine onto this one and I've finally lost my patience with it, so I'm seeking help. What I want is to keep my current settings but for the message to leave me alone.

When I'm playing games (Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 beta, Skyrim etc) My game will be minimized and I'll get a popup(very annoying when playing online games) informing me that my PC is running slowly and it wants to disable Aero. This is very very annoying as I know full well my machine will run anything thrown at it. Is there a way I can disable this?

I have tried going into the advanced settings in System, Control Panel and changing "let windows decide" to "Adjust for best appearance" to no avail. Please any insight is much appreciated, thanks.

-Specs are in my profile but can list if requested

Hello and welcome Wyvern mate you can use this Optimize Windows 7 point 4 or just right click anywhere on the desktop > Personalise > Window colour > untick Transparency - if that is what you are after (as I read it)

Ahh sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I like the transparency feature, I think it looks nice :) But I don't believe that Aero is demanding enough for my machine not to be able to handle Aero while running certain games.
    Will edit first post

I understand that the games I have in question are relatively high performance games but I can run them in excess of 100 frames with Aero on, yet the pop up will still interrupt me. In the beginning I would choose the option that says something like Keep settings and never ask me again, now I just ignore it as it makes no difference.

I was rather thinking that when I posted but not sure. Drivers up to date?not just for the cards but the board too?

I would at least have a look at them the chipset at least
    P9X79 PRO - Motherboards - ASUS

Before you go there though try these won't take long and delete any rubbish and it will eliminate anything there.

After these we can go on to test the PSU and a memtest.

    PSU- Jump Start

    for a reference
PowerSupply 101: A Reference Of Specifications - Power Supplies as you will see there is a +/- 5% variance that can make allthe difference so 11.4v is way too low and 12.6v way too high.

Plus remember correct bolts do not mean correct current (amps - in turn watts)

Suppose you have tried reseating everything too?

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthisone you will need to make a bootable disk set the BIOS to optical (or USB ifpreferred) boot the machine and let it run for at LEAST 8 passes unless theerrors come up straight away. Takes fair time to complete and some leave itrunning overnight.

That could be a virus showing fake messages or could be because you are running a program that is old (NFS Carbon in my case)

I've decided to just use the Windows Classic theme. It's a bit nostalgic and so far it's working well

Thanks a bunch for all the input guys

No need to disable the awesome default aero theme in windows 7.

A easy option is to right click the games shortcut and in compatibility mode choose to run with visual effects disabled when the programs running. This will auto turn aero off and when the program quits, it will go back to the windows 7 aero theme it was on.

    Basic version-

Right click any game shortcut. Choose properties. Click compatibility tab. Then choose the option to disable visual themes.

Almost all newer games do this by default. Especially the graphic intensive ones. Need for speed world does this automatically as well as tomb raider.

After doing this, when you exit the game or application, your default theme is restored.
