amount of files in My Documents not accurate

Copy to external delete from computer amount of files in My Documents left is not accurate.

I am trying to copy files to an external, and delete from my computer.

Yesterday I thought when I saw a file that I knew was deleted from my computer was just a fluke. I clicked on it and windows said file not found.

After moving close to 320gb of data I checked my computer thinking wow doing great, just to find the opposite instead of 320gb free I had red line and it was showing that I only had 90gb space left. So I did a scan disk and defrag thinking that was the problem. Apparently not somehow what i deleted got added and its not in the recycle bin that is all gone.

I am really scratching my head here. I checked my download folder what i deleted in it really looks gone, and its showing that this folder is much smaller than it was before i started yesterday. I checked also other folders, and even moved some stuff over to external drive, and deleted from my computer and now show 119gb free space. But it's not right there should be another 220gb free space. This is perplexing, any ideas? Oh I looked also for copies there are none.
