Windows Easy Transfer, Not working

Following the Windows Easy Transfer directions, I spent 12 hours transfering files from old computer to an external hard drive. Transfered total of 178 GB. Disconnected hard drive and plugged into new computer. The C: drive of which has 643 GB of memory. And yet, I got a "There isn't enough disk space available to transfer your files and settings. Free up some disk space and try again," message.

No where in the WET setup did I see an option to select a target hard drive. I suspect the program might be trying to transfer the data to the new compters D: drive which only has 12 MB free.

What am I missing?

While I do not think I have a full solution to this issue, I did have the same concern about the Destination Path that you had.

Although the WET interface uses a non-'standard' way to set the destination path,
I replaced the text of the default path with my own and WET directed the output correctly.
e.g. Default --> C:\Users\Bob\SomeFolder
My Selection --> K:\PC_Xfers\WinV_To_Win7_2010
You likely know that in Windows Explorer, if the path is showing and you click to the right of it, it changes to text that you can copy (CTRL+C).

I think I got confused by the storage estimate provided by WET because it breaks it down by catagories and also I was suprised that (large) directories I put off the root of C: were also automatically included. But I was even more surprised to find that my whole external drive was selected automatically by WET as something to be transferred ! I clicked on the links labeled 'advanced' around the WET storage estimates to review/revise.

I sincerely hope something in the above rambling helps you or others.

The problem lies where there is not enough space, first transfer the wet file to the new c/ drive then unplug any external drives.
When you d/click the wet file it still says not enough space, click advaced options and click map drives.
Where you see the red x orb, click the drop down and change that to the c/ drive and there you go!!
