    windows 7 ratings help

my windows ratings for the same processor have come down this happened since i formatted my pc last week
and i am also getting significant performance drops in the GTA 4 gameplay
please help guys i even tried resetting the bios settings but it did not work
however installing the older nvdia drivers increased the ratings by 0.1 but but ram and processor do not have a driver do they????

    here are the old ratings

    core2duo e7500@2.93ghz---6.4
    ram 4gb ddr2----6.4
    nvdia gts 250----6.9
    gaming graphics total graphics memory---6.9
    primary hard disk----5.9 (lowest subscore)

    now they are

    core2duo e7500@2.93ghz---4.4(lowest subscore)
    ram 4gb ddr2----5.5
    nvdia gts 250----6.8
    gaming graphics total graphics memory---6.8
    primary hard disk----5.9

Did you change your Operating System at all? Go from Home Premium to Ultimate? How about software? Any big difference?

    Let us know,

As the drops here are the CPU and RAM sub scores that would point me in the direction of the motherboard (system) drivers ton being optimal.

Check online for your motherboard at the manufacturer's site and get the latest system or motherboard drivers and install them - after this re-running the WEI should bring things back to previous levels

There may be some slight variation 0.1 either way in different runs but should not drop off so much

    thanks for replying guys
first these ratings both were taken on windows 7 ultimate and i used xp for some time in between
second i have the latest drivers installed for win 7 from the gigabyte website

would i need a complete format of my system to correct this????

or if there is some problem with the WEI maybe you can recommend me some benchmarking tool for the processor and the ram and then i can compare the results to see if every thing is ok or not

Actually, I've seen antivirus and firewall products cause drops like this (they're using CPU cycles and interfere with all I/O on the system, hence lower scores). What do you have installed for security/firewall/etc software?

Some help might be found here.

    Performance Tweaks - Guru3D.com Forums

I'd suggest working through the advice listed on the above forum. Obviously not all of it will be applicable in your case so pick out the things that will work for you.

If the WEI scores dropped after a reformat it suggests that there are tweaks and fixes that you applied previously but haven't done after your fresh install.

I'm no expert on this subject but personally found the article to be of use.
