What SHOULD be in my startup folder?

I am still trying to find out why it takes my PC so long to connect when I start it up. Things run fine and fast once it's going, but the startup process is driving me crazy, especially when I am trying to connect to the internet. Not sure if it's IE10, my pc, or what.

My startup folder shows the following:

    hpsysdrv.Ap

    hpwSchd A

    Microsfot Office

    Adobe Phot

Barnum in msconfig (run as admin) I only ever have the security ticked in the Startup tab and in Boot > Advanced options - nothing is ticked.

All you need in the startups is the AV program and those that you started yourself (e.g. sidebar or a dock). All the others can go. They will start when needed.

Please look at my list of startup programs

I've attached everything that loads at startup. I want to prevent most of them from automatically running but I'm afraid to since I don't know what they are. Can someone please look at my list and help?
    Thank you so much!

Hello and welcome mimi just where are you looking for the start up programs? In 7 you just go to Start > type msconfig> right click Runas admin > Start up tab and there should be a list of what is listed to start at boot up. Just untick everything except the security system. In the Boot tab > Advanced options > make sure everything is unticked in there > Apply > OK it will then give you an option to reboot or not the changes will not be applied until after you reboot.

I am on my 8 machine at the moment or I would send a shot of the Start tab but attached is the Boot tab which is the same as the 7 Boot tab.

I see only 2 that you might want to keep - the Weather Widget and the Rand McNally dock. The rest can be disabled.
