Tips for installing Win7 to ensure it will boot quickly?

When I first installed Windows 7 it booted quickly, but as the months went on and I installed more applications, the boot sequence just seems to take longer and longer.

Now I am just about to re-install Windows 7 again. Aside from not installing anything unnecessary, is there anything else I can do to make sure Windows will boot quickly and STAY booting quickly?
