My friend installed it for me on my SSD because I didn't have access to a cd drive at the time. Is that the issue?

Edit: Upon googling, it looks like he put a pirated windows 7 on it, I guess that seems to be a good bit of the issue. I will go purchase a new version sometime in the next day or two. Even gave him money for the install/key as well.

From the looks of it, you have other 'pirated' programs along with your pirated copy of Windows.
