I found the following regarding cpu.exe

Quote:
This is an undesirable program.

Filename: CPU.exe
Command: CPU.exe
Description:
A variant of the IRCBot family of worms and IRC backdoor Trojans.

Then again there is this:

Don't know

Hi. I don't know what it is or where it came from. Maybe check Windows Temp and User Temp folders.

Possible workaround:

I tend to use an application whitelisting component that can be configured to prompt for action when unsigned files attempt to run. It can be set to block automatically (not worth the hassle) or ask the user to choose an action.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll post the link.

Best,

Chris.

I recommend still doing your security scans.
Their might be little goodies hiding in your restore point.
