I have just made a new partition in windows 7 the partition i made it exFAT. When i go to disk management and right click on the partition and go to properties there is no option for me to hide it so how do i go about this?

Well that is a strange request.
I know of no way to hide a partition using Disk Management. Just hang in their; we have a lot of members maybe some one knows.
You are very wise to be keeping a copy of your purchased programs (it's also a good idea to keep a copy of the free ones as well) since the websites they come from could disappear or a current version you may be using could get replaced with a less desirable one.
I store all my downloaded programs, both purchased and free, in a folder in My Documents; I don't worry about hiding it. I could have put the folder anywhere, though.
I also keep ISOs of the disks most of my purchased programs come on in another folder, also in My Documents. I can run the ISO as though it were a physical disk by using a virtual clone drive. The physical disks themselves I keep in my safe deposit box at my credit union.
I feel putting your purchased programs on a hidden partition to protect them is overkill (encrypting the folder they are in would be more secure if you have reason to keep them from prying eyes). If the HDD they are on should fail, you would lose them anyway. The best way to protect them is to make sure you have at least one backup of the HDD they are on (more are better): a true backup being a copy of the HDD on another HDD or other media. All your data should be backed up, anyway.
I have also uploaded my purchased programs to my Skydrive account in case my disk fails or my OS becomes corrupt. The programs i backed up on my hidden partition are in a zip file which is encrypted with 256-bit AES Encryption then i made a copy of the zip file and uploaded it to my skydrive, I like to make sure information is secure.

Can that be done using Windows 7?
Doing that won't stop one from seeing the partition in Disk Management.
Do I understand correctly now that rfbennett1 doesn't mind seeing the partition in Disk Management; just doesn't want to see it any place else.
