My pc has better parts than my girlfriends but hers is way faster why.

I have had my pc for about 3 years. My pc specs are listed on the pc specs section of my profile. My girlfriend has had her computer for six months her specifications are listed below. Her computer is way way way faster and launches programs way faster and is just way faster but I think based on my knowledge of computers I feel that I have better parts. Why does her computer run better than my pc. Knowing this will help me make a better decision when purchasing my next pc

    her specifications
    Operating system windows8

    Processor: intel i5-3337u cpu @1.80ghz

    installed memory 8.00Gb

    Gpu indel hd graphics 4000

    Well because:
    1. She has a higher clock speed on her CPU.
    2. She has a new 3rd gen cpu so it has newer tech.
    3. She has 8gbs of RAM but you have less.

    4. She may have a SSD.
    5. Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7 for some scenarios.

What makes you think your gear is better. Her CPU has faster single core performance (most programs make no use of all the i7 cores and hyperthreads), her graphics chip is faster and her disk is probably faster too. In addition she has Win8 which is a bit faster than Win7 and a newer installation which is not yet all clogged up.

If you want more performance I recommend a SSD and a reinstall.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    Newegg.com - 250gb ssd

You could get a cooling pad for your laptop.

Cooling pad doesn't do the job and it make usage of laptop difficult.

when I had that heating problem, I used a blower at the slowest fan speed and cleaned the system just by pointing it to blower. You'll see a lot of dust blowsout from those fan vents and other compartments. Heat problem got reduced drastically. IDK whether it's the same thing that's clooging yours, try it.
