Windows 7 Pro New Install Freezes

I did a new install of Windows 7 Pro last weekend and I have had trouble with it freezing,
It will freeze up and a then the screen turns black. After three to five minutes the screen will return to normal and Windows 7 will work normally. There is no pattern of time or the use of a certain program. It seems be random. Also when I boot up the welcome screen is on for about three or four minutes.
Can you offer any help to diagnose this problem.

To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's the correct way to do it. :SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

    Your System Specs here.

After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)

Follow the clean boot procedure and remember to reinstall services slowly to be sure of the service that is causing the problem

I have not had a chance to try the suggestions above but something interesting has happened. When Windows 7 freezes and the screen goes black, the radio station I was streaming over the internet kept playing. It never stopped during the Windows 7 freeze. Has anyone experienced this?

IT sounds like your monitor or graphics card/chip or cable is bad.

I have a Nvidia 6200 grraphic card. I will disable it and see if that solves the problem. I also have been having problems with Office 2010. Every time I launch Word, Office 2010 configures as if it is a new install. I have considered a reinstall of Office 2010.

I have updated my system specs and did clean boot procedure. I disabled all services. I can tell it did not solve the problem as it still took three to four minutes to get off the "Welcome" page during start up.

In that case, I must conclude that it is hardware. You may want to start with the suggestions given by Britton

Try each video card separately. Are there separate drivers for these in Device Manager?
