Accidentally, I found out access to it is not denied in Safe Mode with administrator account.. Strange.
OPTION THREE in the tutorial below can help show you how to see the sfcdetails from the CBS log.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hi Shawn....I did option #3, copy/pasted findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" and nothing happened. Nothing appeared on desktop...no sfcdetails.txt .

Did you open an elevated command prompt (right click -> Run as administrator) to paste the command in?

right click -> Run as administrator is the only way the scan runs.

Maybe the no show on desktop is due to previous sfc /scannow scans that did not pick up anything to fix...they were all no integrity violations ?

It should still create a sfcdetails.txt file on your desktop. If there were no issues found by SFC, the .txt file would just be empty.

Try typing the command instead in case it's not being copied properly for some reason.

OK..I typed(twice) and got same result...nothing.

Is the sfcdetails.txt that is supposed to appear on desktop the same as(or identical to) the one logged in CBS file?

The sfcdetails.txt file would only show the SFC results from the CBS log file. This way you would not have to dig through all the other unrelated entries in the CBS log.

Please go ahead and post a screenshot of the command prompt showing what it says after entering the command and pressing Enter to see if it may help to ID the issue.

Interesting. Did you move your user profile folder?

Does it do the same from any other administrator account?

"Interesting. Did you move your user profile folder?"

I am not sure I understand your question. I do not know how to move folders. I know how to move files from folder to folder.

Anyway, I have three user accounts1) Administrator - Home (2) Non-administrator - Tony (2) Guest which is seldom activated(I seldom have trusted guest and my grandson does not like it).

I did the option #3 on both Home and Tony.... and got same result, nothing on desktop.

Attachment 308778

This CBS folder although visible on regular browsing is accessible only in Safe Mode. I opened two files in Safe Mode in Home and I was given options where to have the files shown for extraction. I chose Desktop and nothing happened. I chose Download and the files were shown in Home's Download folder and were successfully extracted.

Interestingly, when I re-started from safe mode to normal browsing, there were two files on desktop only in Home but not in Tony....and they were successfully extracted.
