How to clear out usb history on Bench tech machine Help!

I plug a lot of Hard drives into this machine via usb adapter for data transfers and I tend to get frustrated and just reload the pc often. After so many times the pc slows way down. I go into the usbstor in the registry but it will not let me delete all the values there for a clean slate so to speak.

    Windows 7 pro x64

I see that there is a way to keep this cleaned out and if I can find the correct way to do so I will make a batch file and force it to run weekly just to stay ahead of this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I do this via Device Manager by expanding USB devices then right click and uninstall all the greyed out ones (ones not currently installed). I don't know any way to automate this so like you, I do this once a week or so and remove anywhere for 10 to 30 devices each time.

Worked perfectly on my Windows XP Pro X86 system at work. I'll try it on Win 7 Pro X84 tomorrow.

Not all men are fools, Some are bachelors.
Good variation, I had a bumper sticker that was "Some men are fools, others are single"

Worked well on my Windows 7 system too. I'll try 8.1 in a bit after I run Acronis and create a restore point.

It should work on Win 8 as well (but let us know). I find the drivecleanup tool quite handy and easy to use. A "must have" in a geek's tool kit :)

Yup, worked great on 8.1 Pro X64. I ran the X64 version.
