Microsoft update : 0x8007007E on Windows 7

Hi everyone!
I have an 0x8007007E error while trying to use Microsoft Update on IE8. However, Windows update (the one built in windows) works but it only gives me updates for windows.

Many thanks!

Welcome to Seven Forums, albanderuaz.

Windows Update should take care of updating IE8, it is a change from the former way of doing updates.

P.S. - Sorry for the delay in responding, but it looks like the issue is solved for you.

There should be a link on the start page of Windows Update to add other Microsoft software.

1.Control Panel>>Troubleshooting>>System and Security>>Fix problems with Windows Update
2.Reinstall WU Agent How to obtain the latest version of the Windows Update Agent to help manage updates on a computer

3.Try install this hotfi manually from Microsoft Download Center (not from WU)

Ok, I tried 1,2 and 3 but when I try to install the hotfix, it tells me that Wu's agent installation encountered a fatal error

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for responding so quickly.

I zipped what you asked except the last thing you required me to run: when I try to install the program, it tells me that it is already installed. How can I run it manually then?

Thank you!

Same error unfortunately, it tells me that KB947821 is already installed. Is there a way to force the installation?
