Windows 7 Aero lag on a GAMING computer

I have a Alienware x51
My specs are below
- It came with Windows 8.1 but i switched the hard drive so now i have [U]Windows 7 x64[U]
-16 GBs DDR3 ram
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 1GB graphics
-1TB hard drive

When ever I move a window it lags.
It feels like the fps is low. But the computer still runs games very well!
Please Help

Did the Windows 7 HDD come from a different computer, or was it a fresh install ?

Hello everyone I wanted to ask if there are programs that disable aero when I start the game until the time I close it down completly. Right now even if the game is running and I minimize the game the aero turns back and it makes my laptop very slow. Hope to see some answers
