I use Bitdefender AV 2010, and I just turned off Windows Defender service, is it really needed, in fact BD suggested that I turn it off :p! There's another service I want to know if i can turn off- WSearch (windows search), is this service critical or optional.

Any suggestion, folks?

Becuase I don't search that much! And most importantly, it's taking up resources, I want to isolate the cause of a certain annoying freeze up!

It is not Windows Search that is causing you freeze up. And the resources it is taking up is negligible, so don't worry about it.
