Do not power off or unplug your machine... 3 hours later...

I have a dual booted mac / windows 7 machine. About 3 hours ago I logged into Windows did some invoices then logged out to get back to my Mac. But I got the please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 1 of 9 ..

I waited twenty minutes, because updates are usually fast. The message never changed. I went to the grocery store the message had not changed. i went to the gym, it still hasn't changed.

So now my question is... What happens if I power off or unplug my machine? Or should I keep waiting. I do have another Windows 8.1 / Ubuntu machine I can work on if it is just an especially large windows 7 update.

If it was my computer I would reboot into Windows.
A few times I have had that happen to me and a reboot fixed it.
You should notice on the reboot Windows will be finishing off the updates. Wait until it's done. Normally it's pretty quick at that point. When it's done booting I would check for more Windows Updates.

Of course its your computer so its at your own risk.

    Thanks.

I left it overnight, just in case. When it hadn't advanced any further, I logged off. I've been using the Mac partition without ill effect, but haven't yet ventured back into the Windows 7 side.
