Two issues
Hi guys! I've been experiencing two very annoying problems since I installed Windows 7. Any help to fix them would be appreciated.
First one regards Hibernation. I've never been a fan of it, therefore the first thing I did after installation was go to the power plan settings and disable it. It didn't work however, since my PC seems to go on standby if I let it be for a long time and the monitor shuts off even though I've specifically marked the NEVER SHUT OFF option. I checked around for the issue online and found that I could powercfg -h off in the command prompt to turn it off as well. However, when I tried it I kept getting an error that I didn't have permission to turn it on or off, even though I WAS the admin.
The second issue is concerning a program I use for my motherboard not turning on automatically when the PC boots. I have a Gigabyte motherboard which comes with a software called iCool which basically optomizes the fan speed and more importantly, dramatically lowers its noise. In XP, the program would just start up automatically in the back after Windows finished booting. It doesn't do that in Windows 7, even though the settings specificy it to do so, therefore I am always forced to manually click it every time. Also, when I do click it, I get that warning you get when using some programs. I get the same warning when I click my Avast! antivirus.
So is there a way I can:
1) disable PC hibernation/standby/monitor power off for good? All my power plan settings are set to NEVER yet it does nothing.
2) add my iCool program to some sort of list or something that deems it safe to be used in Windows 7 without having to go through that annoying warning everytime. I'm assuming this is the reason it won't start automatically either. I know I can bypass the warnings if I lower that safety slider thing, but I'd prefer if there were a way to simply add programs to a 'safe to use' list, like it is possible to add in firewalls.
I hope I was coherent enough in explaining the issues I am facing and major thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve them.
~ Cheers!
