    Startup Repair option - HELP

    Hi,

I have some other problems with my computer, but first I tried to fix this using the "Startup Repair" option in the "System Recovery Options."
I started my computer with Windows installation DVD and next I press "repair your computer" it didn't show up my OS, and I was not able to fix anything because I couldn't choose my Windows.
What I supposed to do to fix this problem?

    Hi!

put the dvd back.. and then ..open the command prompt.. diskpart .. select disk 0 ..list part ..
and then select the partition which is the system partition(by select part 1 or Select part 2 etc) .. then type active.. exit, exit ..and restart.. if problem happens again.. put the dvd back and now u'll be able to see windows operating system..chose repair and it might repair.

    Hi,
I discovered another strange thing. I have few hard drives in my computer. When I checked in the "Disk Management" it showed strange thing. It doesn't matter that my HD (C:\) with OS is connected to Sata_0 on the motherboard in Disk Management it shows Sata_2 but when I disconnected my drivers, it shows Sata_0. If I try to connect other drivers again, right away HD (C:\) is connected to different Sata port, even if it did not touch it and still is connected to Sata_0.
I don't know what this thing means, but I think that this is something important.

    Hi, nooruddin76,

I did what you said, and I've got the message:
    Virtual Disk Service error:
The specified partition is not a primary or logical volume.

    P.S.
My C:\ HD is divided for two partitions and when I used cmd.exe and wrote list part I got two partitions: Partition 0 - Extended and Partition 1 - Logical and I chose Partition 0. Probably, I supposed to choose Partition 1, but I was afraid that Partition 1 is a wrong choice because OS is installed on first partition of my HD.

    do select disk 0
    list volume
then see which volume is labeled(last column) as System
    chose that volume like:
select vol 1(if 1 is system or sel vol 2, if 2 is sytem vol)
    active
    exit
    exit
    restart

    Hi nooruddin76,

I chose Partition 0 and this is what I've got:

    Virtual Disk Service error:
The specified partition is not a primary or logical volume.

    Hi Britton30,
    Startup Repair option-capture.jpg

The letters of hard drives are showing what kind of order supposed to be connected.
    C:\ & D:\ connected to Sata0 supposed to be Disk 0
    F:\ connected to Sata2- Disk 2
    G:\ which I connected to Sata1 - Disk 1
