    SFC /... for regular mainenance?

    Hello,

I recently learned about sfc /verifyonly and sfc /scannow when entered into the Elevated Command Prompt window. As I understand it, sfc /scannow checks for Windows system file errors and if it finds any, fixes them.

Are these fixes reliably safe? If so, should running the sfc / ... command be part of routine PC maintenance? If so, how often should it be run to keep on top of things before they may get problematic?

    Thanks

Yes the fixes are safe. I personally do not believe it is necessary to run SFC periodically. Just my opinion.

Here is a tutorial by Brink I think you should read.
It explains a lot of things.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I have never known of sfc /scannow hurting Windows 7.
I use it at times just to make sure things are okay.
I also use it after I have change a lot of things just to make sure I didn't do any damage to the System Files.
