    bingo, fixed. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
    i even made a ISO USB stick boot, and boots to repair in 1min not 10min (DVD)

    i guess that file was pulled from a CAB file?
    if others need the ISO its here

    In this case it was taken from a Windows ISO (it's on the SP1 disk)

    Do you know if MS, ever made a slip-streamed, ISO for windows 7, that supports, USB3?

    USB3 is not part of either RTM or SP1 Windows 7 - and never will be.
    You can try creating a slipstreamed version with the drivers present - but you'd need to have the proper drivers for every possible variant of the ID.
    Better to install the specific drivers post-install.

    thanks, yes, post install is easy
    but not lap/net books with only USB3 ports, nor 'optical drives"
    and using boot-able memory flash sticks.
    sure w8 , is the fix.
