    Unusually High and Exaggerated CPU

A little backstory: I recently downgraded to 4GB from 8GB after 2 defective RAM slots (4x2GB RAM).

Anyways, my CPU skyrockets when I start up applications. For example, launching Chrome or Steam skyrockets to 60-70% CPU usage and then dies down.

Can anyone help me out with this? I'm tired of the slowness.

Maybe you have more defective ram?

Download Memtest86+ (you want the 2nd one Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)). Unzip it then create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.

DO NOT burn the .iso file directly to CD. It must be used as input to a program that knows what to do with it, like the one I mentioned above.

You can do this on any computer that has a working CD Burner.

You can also use a Flash drive instead of a CD.

Download - Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*.
Unzip and run Memtest86+ USB Installer.exe.
It will format the flash drive if you tell it to. I used a small, 16MB flash drive and it had 8.5GB left when done.

Boot the CD or Flash drive and run Memtest86+ for at least 3 complete passes unless it shows errors sooner than that. An overnight run is even better.

I'll do the RAM test, but whenever I put a RAM stick onto my DIMM 1 or DIMM 3, I can't get pass the Windows' Log-in screen.
I've done this with multiple variation, for example: put different combinations on those slots.
It either crashes or BSoD. what's your thought on this?

The FOXCONN 2AB1 board has Dual Channel memory.

    DIMM 1 and 3 Channel 0
    DIMM 2 and 4 Channel 1

    From the manual:

So it sounds like there is a problem with channel 0 since you can't use slot 1 or 3.

What memory (manufacture/model/speed/voltage/etc) are you trying to use?
