    Computer randomly freezing


    Hello all,

    I've recently had an issue where my PC intermittently freezes. It'll normally start off with one program that stops responding and eventually all the other open ones will do the same. Windows Explorer also tends to stop responding. Some open programs are unaffected and I'm able to interact with them to a limited degree (a few actions and closing them) but I am unable to open any new programs. I reinstalled Windows a couple of months ago in an attempt to fix this same problem but it seems to have resurfaced.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Okay i would start off with a:

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Possibly run CCleaner, link is in my sig.

    Running the scan now.

    Looked through the event viewer as well. Would any of the logs there be of any use?

    Have you tried to open up Task Manager and then select the performance tab and then click the button Resource Monitor and see if anything is eating up most of the CPU ? svhost can go out of control at times and use up 65% of the CPU, but I found with all the latest updates on Win7 it behaves itself now... It might be svhost or it could be something else, either way when it happens its worth taking a look in there to see whats going on in real time

    Took the RAM out and found there was dust in one of the slots. Cleared that away and so far no freezes. Appreciate the input guys.

    Ah yeah the dreaded dust in the RAM slots ! lol causes some very random random problems at times... Anyway good to hear you got it sorted

Alright so I had another thread where my computer was freezing randomly but It only ever happened while browsing the web. I upgraded my CPU and motherboard to AMD FX8350 ASUS M5A99x Evo Both are brand new and I have 3x4gb of Corsair Vengence memory that's also fairly new 3-4 months old...

My computer has been randomly freezing lately. I am pretty sure it is not my ram or graphics card. I also have used SFC /Scannow, it did not find any problems Other than that I do not know what the problem is. I am in great need of help. Thank you for your help.
