    Real Windows System Information! MSINFO32

I've been using Windows since forever, and I just found out about this tool that gives you very detailed system information.
    msinfo32.exe.

It's way better than going to Control Panel/System.
    Please tell everybody about it!

    Hi there
tips are always useful (including the financial kind ) ,

-- however an easier way that's been around for DONKEYS YEARS is Windows Internet explorer ===> Help===>about internet explorer===> then on the panel that's thrown up just click on System Info.

This option was available also in the components of OFFICE 2003 (removed in Office 2007 apart from Outlook 2007)

    Cheers

The results for memory are messed up in that app so be aware of that. Use task manager or dxdiag if you want to know your true memory usage/availability

Is there any way to check the power supply? Like watts used or max watts?

Not unless the power supply sends that kind of information to the computer...never seen one that does.

    Hi there
the easy answer is just to check your electricity meter
most meters these days are digital so you should easily be able to test what you are using.

In the USA it might be a bit difficult because some of the meters are located outside the building but you should still be able to check.

It gets even easier with the next generation of "Smart Meters" - these will show your usage at any time on demand and also give you day / week / month etc comparisons with previous periods

If you have this type of meter (you won't see these yet for a while in the UK) there is usually a panel INSIDE your house irrespective of where the actual meter is located. You can just key in request for info on consumption etc etc.

These are often seen in appartment blocks in places like Brussels etc because it's quite difficult to physically get access to the meter room which is often locked in the basement.

Don't forget - strange as it might seem there are still SOME tasks that can be done without a computer.

    Cheers

you can buy a $20-$30 gadget at the hardware store that you can hook between your cord and the wall and it will tell you how much watts something is using. Mainly used to help find high wattage applicances, etc in your house in an attempt to save on electricity.
