    Slow boot and AVG

    Hello guys,
    First of all I hope you can forgive me for my bad English (I'm Italian);
    I'm not sure this is the appropriate section but my problem is about a decrease of performance.

    As title says, I'have discovered that AVG Antivirus 2014 slows Windows 7 boot; It seems to do this after the last updates.

    I don't want to unistall it but I'm trying to find a solution to improve boot speed.
    Can you help me please?

    Thank you.

    Unless you`re hooked on AVG, we recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

    Thanks for reply.
    The fact is that I am very attached to AVG (I have it since 2008 on an old XP) and the problem is only on boot time.

    So I'am thinking to disabling it from startup programs on msconfig window.
    Is it a good idea?

    if you disable it, then your antivirus will not run.

    I recommend ditching avg. It is not as good as it used to be. I am not part of the "we" that recommend MSE. Panda is very light and does well on av test and av comparatives.

    AV-Comparatives Independent Tests of Anti-Virus Software » AV-Comparatives

    Use those to make a decision on a av to pick.

    I suggest not having an antivirus that is slowing down your boot.

    Many of us use different anti virus programs but many have left AVG because it is just not as good as it use to be.
