    SSD + HDD Optimization

    Hi,

I just bought a MSI GS60 ghost pro running Win 8.1 64bit with a 128G SSD from Kingston and a 1TB HDD. I was wondering if I can do something to optimize their performance? From my understanding SSD + HDD can't form a RAID right? Is there any kind of good software that can do some tricks? Please let me know! Thanks!

Best advice is to avoid RAID and don't try a bunch of tricks.

Make sure the SSD is aligned properly. Don't defrag it. Use the same maintenance and performance procedures you'd use on any computer--antivirus, malware, periodic cleanup with Disk Cleanup or CCleaner, don't install unnecessary stuff, let Windows manage itself for the most part, get an understanding of your typical RAM usage, running processes, and startup items.

Here is a good article on things you can do.

While theoretically possible combining an SSD and conventional drive in a RAID 0 array would be a bad idea. This would drag the combined performance down to that of the HD. All of the disadvantages of RAID with none of the advantages.

    Tricks don't optimize anything.
