I don't see what your complaining about, your CPU and RAM scores are about the best I have seen, do think you can fill in your system specs so we can see what it takes to get to that score?

    hello jfar
i'm using 2 of the ( patriot warp 32gb solid state harddrives ) . i put them together as raid 0 and just have the o/s on them . all the data is on my westen digital 1t harddrive.

Scrooge, I'd toyed with the idea of using one of the later SSDs exclusively for the pagefile, what's your personal opinion of them, are you impressed with them?

Don't know if you'd ever considered it, but I've seen a very significant performance increase on my hard drives by getting off the integrated controllers on the motherboard and using an Adaptec SATA RAID controller instead.

It's a lot of hasssle or I would plug the old raptors into the Adaptec controller to see if it made much difference on the WEI.

i didn't try using it for pagefile . i moved my pagefile to the westen digital drive .
my system feels alot faster with the solid state harddrives .the only thing i just
can't seem to get faster is my bootup time .it still takes about 1min or more to boot.it starts booting fast but then i get a black screen and it hangs there .after the welcome screen it flys . anyway the ssd's are very fast and run very cool .

Thanks for sharing your experience Scrooge, from what I understood of the reviews of SSDs their best advantage was their incredibly low access time. On a lot of the reviews the read and write speed was beaten by some hard drives.

I figured I would try for the best of both worlds, stick with hard drives for the main storage but buy an SSD for the pagefile as that's where access time is the most crucial.

Actually that's a bit of a lie. Put simply if I had the money I'd do what you have done and go SSD and just use hard drives for storage. You might have seen but there was a new DDR2 RAM drive available now which looked very cool and is very tempting. It has a battery backup to keep the data in the RAM alive and a compact flash card reader you can back the RAM up onto just in case anything happens.

Also I saw that the latest JMicron based SSD now comes with two controllers inside and the performance pretty much matches the Intel SSD.

Odd about the boot time, is this after POST? After POST my boot time is certainly less than 1 minute, it's the POST time that frustrates me sometimes with all the RAID POST screens doing their thing, but I found it was just easier to go get a cup of tea whilst it booted up.

Scrooge, did you notice the articles going round saying SSDs suffered from fragmentation?

Sorry, I appear to have waffled on a bit.

thats me score! moving to x64 increased my score due to the limit to 3.5gb extension in x32

even at 4ghz it stays at 7.5 for cpu. but its nice and stable where its at. still need more ram tho

Wow bloke, now THAT is an overclock, especially on an nVidia chipset. And just air cooled?
