Startup Repair Error
Hello everyone,
I’m posting because I’m having an issue with my laptop. It’s a Toshiba with Windows 7.
I used it yesterday with no problems whatsoever, but this morning when I booted it up, I very briefly saw a blue screen with coding, and it continued on. Everything seemed normal until a screen came up that read:
”Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose Start Windows Normally.”
Then it gives me two options:
“Launch Startup Repair (recommended)”
“Start Windows Normally”
If I click on Launch Startup Repair, it gives me nothing but a blank screen, and it stays that way without
actually taking me to startup repair. If I click on Start Windows Normally, it just loops back to the original
screen.
This has happened to me once before, and on that occasion, I used system restore. I have all my major files
backed up in various places, but I would prefer to not to have to reupload and reorganize them all again,
because that’s a total pain. I’ve looked elsewhere online, but all I’ve found are tutorials leading you through
jungles of complex code. I’m not as technologically literate as they come. Disaster results whenever I try to code anything at all. I’m afraid that I’ll just screw it up more. Does anyone know what is happening here, and how I might fix it without resorting to system restore?
Any help on this matter will be deeply appreciated.
