Disabling Superfetch Is Not Working...

    I don't understand the whole discussion. Disabling superfetch is completely counterproductive and will decrease system performance.

    It does not use any RAM that is otherwise needed - it uses only RAM that is lying around doing nothing and will be freed any time it's needed. That's why the RAM used by superfetch is part of the 'available RAM'.

I randomly expierence my widnows 7 revert from aero to widnows basic and it seems to be caused by a superfetch has stopped working error as when i check reliabilty monitor it shows a superfetch error at the time of the aero change after about 30 second the computer recovers and returns back to aero...

Have they changed its code in some fundamental way? I always used to have to disable it eventually on vista as it was very greedy with ram, quite frequently leaving me with very little head room. But, on W7 it seems incredibly well behaved. It's almost as if is not enabled.
